By now many Realtors are aware that the National Association of Realtors has recently decide it may be an ethical violation for for Realtors to have MLS in the url of their website.

A few points to consider about having MLS in your website url:

1. The National Association of Realtors has not intellectual property in the Mark MLS. Consequently non NAR members will be able use MLS in their url.

2. Where this gets interesting is in states where you have to be a member or your local Realtor Association to use the MLS system.  NAR and local boards may be opening themselves up for lawsuits. 

3. In California you may choose not to join your Realtor Association but still be part of the MLS system.

4.  Therefore if MLS is in a URL that already pulls in leads, you may wish to quit being a REAL TOR and just be a Realter.  

5.  Question does anyone control the mark San Diego MLS or the Orange County MLS.

6. If you are using MLS in your url - you may not want to say your are The San Diego MLS or The Orange County MLS.  As the local Realtor boards may say they control the mark and attempt to get your url pulled by ICANN.
